Benny & The Squirrel

The desk watches the YouTube channel and both public Substacks on its own. New episodes land in the library; extracted notes wait in Review. Nothing is accepted automatically.

Watching
  1. YouTube publish ping. The first successful check arms YouTube to ping this desk when a video goes live.
  2. RSS while the desk is open. Opening the desk (and every 45 minutes while it stays open) pulls both Substack feeds plus the channel RSS.
  3. Scheduled catalog. Late morning ET daily · Thursday evening ET — timed for Sunday morning and Thursday night publishes. Heuristic notes go to Review; Grok stays a button so it does not spend quota on a timer.

Optional RSS webhook

Substack does not ping on publish the way YouTube does. The desk still picks up notes on the next open or scheduled pass. For the same minute as publish, point Zapier or Make (RSS trigger) at this hook and send header X-Desk-Secret.

Rate limits on the tape

  • Ask. Three questions in a burst, then one per minute.
  • Extract with Grok. Three shows per click, twelve minutes between Grok passes. Heuristic notes still land.
  • Catalog. Eight minutes between quiet checks. A YouTube ping or webhook is not dropped — extra pings wait on the eight-minute lock instead of starting a second job.
  • Brief export. Keyed URL. Ten pulls in a burst, then one per minute. Wrong keys get 401.

After a show publishes, it should appear here and in Review without a manual check. Use Extract with Grok when you want a sharper claim pass than the public-note heuristic.
